About Our School
Alberta Ballet School's Professional Program (Grades 7-12) is a harmonious balance of academic and artistic training available to young dancers who aspire for a career in professional dance.
Each school day is divided into equal halves with students receiving both academic and artistic instruction daily. In addition to daily course work, students plan and participate in local and school events to foster school spirit, hone leadership skills and build lifelong friendships.
Acceptance consists of a successful artistic audition in addition to a personal academic review.
Our faculty work together to ensure that your transition to studying in Calgary is positive, safe and successful. Our knowledgeable faculty includes warm and approachable instructors, a dedicated medical team and sport psychologist, and a full-time residence team. One-third of Alberta Ballet School’s student body are not local residents of Calgary, and 20% of our students join us from countries outside of Canada.
Our school's residence community is a welcoming setting for students who have traveled from within and outside the country. The space is a friendly and familial atmosphere offering a mix of structured supervision, community-focused culture and a setting for rest, relaxation and physical recovery. Students living in residence will also enjoy regular social activities, such as spirit week, trivia nights, cooking experiences, and fun challenges among students in each grade.
We recognize that making the decision to study away from home is a very important one.
Alberta Ballet School is a uniquely convenient option for American pre-professional ballet students who wish to study abroad.
